Printing Services FAQ – UE Print (Sydney)
1) General & Ordering
Q1. Do you offer same-day printing in Sydney?
A. Yes, many products such as cards, flyers, posters and stickers can be produced the same day if artwork is ready. Cut-off times apply.
Q2. Where are you located?
A. Our workshop is in Rydalmere, Sydney. We provide pickup, fast metro courier, and delivery across NSW and Australia.
Q3. What file types do you accept?
A. Print-ready PDF is best. We also accept AI, EPS, PSD, TIFF, CDR, and high-resolution JPG/PNG. You can design with whatever you like AutoCAD, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, even Publisher (if you’re brave) just remember to export as PDF before sending. The only thing we don’t accept are scans or photos; your business card shouldn’t look like it came out of a detective file.
Q4. Can you fix my artwork if it isn’t print-ready?
A. Yes, we can add bleed, convert colours to CMYK, outline fonts, adjust margins, and prepare cut lines for a small setup fee.
Q5. Do you print short runs?
A. Yes. With digital production, we can print as few as 1 copy for books, prototypes, or special jobs.
Q6. Do you provide colour proofs?
A. Digital proofs are free. Colour-matched hard proofs are available on request.
Q7. Do you keep my artwork on file?
A. Yes, we keep files for repeat orders. Files can be deleted on request.
Q8. Do prices include GST?
A. Prices are usually inclusive of GST, unless otherwise specified.
2) Artwork & File Preparation
Q9. What resolution do you need?
A. 300 dpi at final size for most products. For very large posters, 150–200 dpi is sufficient.
Q10. How much bleed and margin?
A. Add 3 mm bleed for all digital prints, posters and banners. For all panel products (ACP, acrylic, corflute), use 10 mm bleed.
Q11. CMYK or RGB?
A. Use CMYK for print. RGB files will be converted and may appear slightly darker.
Q12. Should I embed or outline fonts?
A. Outline fonts in vector files, or embed fonts in PDFs before sending.
Q13. How do I supply white ink or foil layers?
A. Place the white ink or foil pattern on a separate page, using a different colour to indicate the areas.
Q14. What about Pantone colours?
A. We do not match Pantone colours. CMYK cannot reproduce Pantones exactly.
Q15. How do I set cut lines for stickers or packaging?
A. Name the cut path CutContour in your file.
Q16. What black should I use?
A. Should be 100K only. All other vector patten with rich black will be apply to 100K.
Q17. How do I avoid banding in large areas?
A. Use rich black for solids, and add subtle noise to gradients to minimise banding.
Q18. Can you print barcodes or variable data?
A. Yes. We can merge variable data—including numbers and letters—directly into your print file. Variable numbers can also be converted into different barcode formats/standards, while variable text or web links can be automatically turned into QR codes for printing.
3) Paper & Card Stocks
Q19. What paper is best for stationery?
A. We offer 100gsm basic bond, 120gsm premium bond, and 300gsm uncoated for a more substantial feel.
Q20. What stocks are available for flyers and cards?
A. We stock 130gsm economy, 150gsm standard, 200gsm luxury, and 310gsm high-bulk deluxe paper.
Q21. What’s the difference between coated and uncoated paper?
A. Coated (gloss/matt/silk) produces sharper images, while uncoated has a natural texture and is easier to write on.
Q22. Do you print 420gsm business cards?
A. Yes, our 420gsm cards are the cheapest, fastest, and most popular in Sydney.
Q23. What stock is best for restaurant menus?
A. 350–420gsm laminated card, so they are wipe-clean and durable.
Q24. What about invitations?
A. 300–350gsm uncoated or textured stocks work well for premium invitations.
Q25. Do you supply recycled or FSC papers?
A. All our paper is FSC-certified. Recycled options are available on request.
Q26. Do you have synthetic papers?
A. Yes, we stock PP synthetic paper which is waterproof and tear-resistant.
4) Lamination & Finishes
Q27. What’s the difference between matt, gloss, and velvet laminate?
A. Gloss makes colours pop, matt gives an elegant low-glare finish, and velvet offers a premium soft-touch feel.
Q28. Do you offer anti-scratch or anti-graffiti film?
A. Yes, specialty films are available for high-traffic signs and panels.
Q29. Can I add Spot UV?
A. Yes, spot gloss highlights can be applied on matt/velvet laminated cards.
Q30. Do you do foiling?
A. Foil is not offered.
Q31. Are laminated prints writable?
A. Some matt laminates accept ballpoint or permanent markers, but uncoated paper is recommended for writing.
Q32. How do you ensure UV resistance outdoors?
A. We use 5-year polymeric SAV with overlaminate, and also offer premium 3M materials lasting up to 7 years.
5) Business Cards
Q33. Can I get business cards in one day?
A. Yes, same-day and next-day dispatch service available.
Q34. What is your best-selling business card?
A. Our 360gsm high bulk and 420gsm with laminated cards—premium quality, excellent durability, and great value.
Q35. Do you print custom shapes or rounded corners?
A. Yes, die-cut and rounded corner cards are available.
Q36. Do you offer square cards?
A. Yes, but final size should not be smaller than 40mm
Q37. Do you do edge-coloured cards?
A. No, edge colouring is not offered.
6) Flyers & Brochures
Q38. What fold types are available?
A. Half-fold, tri-fold, and Z-fold.
Q39. What stock is best for a premium brochure?
A. 310gsm high-bulk for a thick, professional finish.
Q40. Do you print A3 folded to A4?
A. Yes—ideal for menus, programs, or product sheets.
Q41. Any tips for small text on flyers?
A. Minimum size is 4pt for paper printing, 7pt for large format labels.
7) Booklets & Books
Q42. Saddle stitch vs perfect binding?
A. Saddle stitch: 8–32 pages. Perfect binding: 36 pages or more.
Q43. What paper weights for inner pages do you recommend?
A. Saddle stitch up to 200gsm. Perfect bound books up to 150gsm for inner pages to avoid glue failures.
Q44. What cover options are available?
A. 250gsm, 310gsm or 350gsm Covers can be laminated for durability.
Q45. What are the minimum orders?
A. Saddle stitch: minimum 25 copies. Perfect bound: minimum 1 copy (sample).
Q46. Can you add spine text?
A. Yes, we calculate the spine width once content is supplied.
Q47. Do pages need to be divisible by four?
A. Saddle stitch: pages must be divisible by 4. Wire binding and perfect binding: any even number is acceptable.
Q48. Do you offer PUR binding?
A. No, we use high-quality EVA glue which covers most specifications.
8) Posters & Banners
Q49. What materials do you use for posters?
A. We print posters on PP and block-out PET, ensuring they withstand sun and weather.
Q50. Do pull-up banners come with a bag?
A. Yes, every pull-up banner includes a padded carry bag with shock protection.
Q51. Do you print double-sided banners?
A. Yes, produced on block-out PET film.
Q52. Can you colour-match brand colours?
A. Our 6-colour Latex printing achieves excellent accuracy. If you provide CMYK values, we’ll print almost exact.
9) Stickers & Labels
Q53. Do you laminate stickers?
A. Yes, we recommend laminating all SAV for signage, for durability. Lamiante on labels are always an option.
Q54. What adhesives do you offer?
A. Normal SAV, removable, high-tack, super-tack, and optional block-out.
Q55. Do you print white ink?
A. Yes, we can print under-flood or over-flood white on clear films.
Q56. Can you supply roll labels?
A. We supply sheeted labels. Roll labels have no selectable core sizes.
Q57. What’s the difference between kiss cut and die cut?
A. Kiss cut cuts only the vinyl, leaving the backing sheet, easy to peel or supply on sheets. Die cut cuts through both vinyl and backing, making individual stickers that are pocket-friendly and easy to carry.
Q58. Minimum text size on labels?
A. Same as Q41: 4pt for paper, 7pt for large format labels. We also have waterproof PP sheets printable down to 4pt.
Q59. Do you make floor stickers?
A. Yes, we supply slip-rated floor vinyls that are anti-slip, durable, and regulation-compliant.
Q60. Are labels suitable for outdoor/oily environments?
A. Yes, our super-tack SAV has been tested with sunscreen and seawater and held up strongly.
10) Signs & Panels
Q61. What is ACP?
A. Aluminum Composite Panel, rigid, lightweight, warp-resistant. Ideal for shopfronts and signage.
Q62. How do you print ACP signs?
A. We print on 5-year polymeric SAV with overlaminate and wrap edges to the back to prevent shrinkage.
Q63. How do you print acrylic signs?
A. Graphics are reverse printed and mounted to the back of acrylic, covered by white SAV, keeping the front glossy and durable, and making logos stand out.
Q64. Do you offer installation services?
A. Yes, we have a professional installation team. Pricing is based on site conditions and quoted case by case. If machinery like a scissor lift is needed, we can organise or you can arrange, but costs are covered by the buyer. And just to be clear — our installers won’t be standing on a pallet lifted by a forklift (we like them alive and safe).
11) Windows, Walls & Vehicles
Q65. What films are best for shop windows?
A. Laminated SAV, One way vision or Forest film supports both under-flood and over-flood white ink for logos and graphics.
Q66. Do you print for brick or rough walls?
A. Yes, we have rough-surface super-tack SAV designed for these applications.
Q67. What about painted gyprock walls?
A. We recommend wall fabric or high-tack vinyl, both suitable.
Q68. Can you use polymeric SAV on vehicles?
A. Only for small contour-cut logos or lettering. For large panels, cast vinyl is required. Monomeric SAV is not suitable.
Q69. Do you make magnetic car signs?
A. Yes, we use 1 mm thick magnets (instead of 0.6 mm). They hold firmly, are laminated, and won’t fall off.
Q70. Do you supply one-way vision for vehicles?
A. Yes, we offer both vehicle-grade OWV and signage-grade OWV at the same price, chosen based on use.
12) Canvas & Wall Art
Q71. How are canvas edges handled?
A. Files are properly AI extended in Adobe Photoshop, ensuring neat wrapped edges.
Q72. Are canvases stretched or glued?
A. We hand-build wood frames, stretch with canvas pliers, and staple tightly.
Q73. What’s the difference between glued and stretched canvas?
A. Glued canvas is flat like a poster and look loose. Stretched canvas has depth and tension, giving a premium gallery look.
Q74. How durable are your canvas prints?
A. Printed with HP Latex inks: UV-resistant for 3 years in direct sun, fade-free indoors. Ink is waterproof, but canvas fabric can show water stains if submerged.
Q75. Do you supply floating frames?
A. We recommend purchasing floating frames from a framing shop.

Q76. Do you make box sleeves or belly bands?
A. Yes, printed on 250gsm card with single-side lamination.
Q77. Do you supply machine-applied roll labels?
A. Yes, suitable for machine application, but core sizes are fixed.
Q78. Do you produce shelf wobblers?
A. Yes, made from 250gsm card with single-side lamination.
Q79. Do you make foamboard strut stands?
